Product Description
Both husbands and wives can be extremely frustrated by the differences in sexual needs and expectations between them. This frustration manifests itself as fighting, resentment, feelings of either guilt or rejection, and general marital strife. There are few safe and appropriate places to ask the questions about sex that frustrate and confuse women most. In No More Headaches, Juli Slattery provides that place with honest answers that target women’s specific needs. Her warm and compassionate style come through as she examines the underlying issues that prevent couples from having a satisfying sex life. Helping husbands and wives understand and address the sexual relationship with their spouse will improve the marriage by reducing stress and frustration in that area, which will reduce stress in other areas of marriage as well. Each chapter contains questions for reflection and questions for couples to discuss. Juli Slattery has extensive experience speaking to women about marriage, parenting, and family issues at retreats and conferences as well as on television and radio.

No More Headaches: Enjoying Sex & Intimacy in Marriage

Imagine my surprise when I opened this book and, by the second chapter, realized this was written for women!

No More Headaches is not a how-to book for successful relationships within marriage.

Dr. Juli Slattery shares her opinion on the generalities found with speedbumps, hiccups, well basically the problems found in the bedroom of marriages and she tackles them from a Christian viewpoint.

Even though it was written for women, I found it interesting reading how women perceive guys and how they function.

I’m not sure if I would recommend this book to anyone however because it seemed to be just barely skimming the topic.

Maybe there’ll be a sequel written soon.

No More Headaches: Enjoying Sex & Intimacy in Marriage

My husband heard Juli Slattery on a radio program and suggested I get the book. I figured something which would take away all my headaches would be GREAT!!

As I looked closer I realized the book was encouraging Christian wives to claim and enjoy the intimacy which marriage only provides without guilt or embarassment.

My husband was even willing to sit with me and take turns reading this book with me. Generally it is written to women, but I felt that it helped my husband understand better how women experience sexual intimacy.

It has been educational and freeing even for us who have been married 36 years.

If you want more intimacy in your marriages women, READ THIS BOOK!!!

I’m glad we did.

After struggling with intimacy in marriage, Juli Slattery’s No More Headaches brought the reality of my circumstances full circle. God’s mercy and grace brought my husband and I through some very difficult and real sexuality issues. This book, in combination with personal relationship with Christ and counseling, greatly strengthened our marriage. I laughed myself to tears as I read because much healing had already taken place for me. If I hadn’t been as far along in healing as I was, I would have cried in relief that I was not alone and/or crazy! I read many excerpts aloud to my husband. We found healing through your boldness and frankness. Glory to God!

Thank You, Juli. I have four extra copies to use as resource to those I now encourage through counseling.

No More Headaches: Enjoying Sex & Intimacy in Marriage

No More Headaches: Enjoying Sex & Intimacy in Marriage (Tyndale/Focus On The Family) would make a helpful read for a monogamous wife and mother of a couple of young kids who has been married for about 10 years. Dr. Juli Slattery tackles differences between men and women in this overview of married sexuality, coaching her readers toward a greater commitment to their mates, themselves and God.

She’s frank without being salcious, and discusses desire, physiology, our past baggage, life in our hyper-sexualized society, and the effects of parenthood on intimacy in far more detail than you’d hear at church, but less detail (thank you) than you’d hear on Oprah. Slattery would affirm my own (thank you) response - she observes that younger and older women tend to have different comfort levels with discussions about sex. Younger women who have been brought up in our sex-saturated culture keep far more on the table when discussing their sex lives with their friends than we boomer women do. My own experience working with college women has confirmed this.

She does a good job connecting the physical to the emotional and spiritual, while avoiding specific prescriptions (how adventurous should a couple get?) in favor of general principles. Slattery’s friendly writer’s voice and lots of anecdotes from her own counseling practice make the book like a heart-to-heart conversation with a smart, wise Christian girlfriend - and a useful overview/gentle course correction for some church-going women.
