How to identify what is causing headaches?
My boyfriend has been experiencing headaches. He describes them as coming on strongly, but almost as if the pain is there (on the right side) and as if a lightning storm, the pain extends. The area is sensitive to touch, but he is not sensitive to light or sound. No changes in diet, or exercise. He can only take tylenol - acetominophen base. After the initial pain, the headache usually dulls, but is constant. Does anyone know what could be causing this? He is getting enough water, so he is not dehydrated. Any suggestions?

Your BF has a migraine. Can he only take Tylenol because of some allergy to other medications, or because of a possible drug interaction? If not, he should switch to Naproxen. You can get this in a generic form, or as Alieve or Advil. You will need to read the packages to see what contains Naproxen depending on where you are located. Naproxen will cause blood vessle constriction which will rapidly alleviate the headache. To speed up the process further, he should drink ice water. Not to become hydrated, but to drop his body temperature. This will also cause a drop in his blood pressure. He will get a little bit tired and weak, and may start to shiver, but his headache will improve within half an hour. In the mean time, he should relax, cover his face with a cool towel, or take a cool shower.

Headache is simply due to tension .. Its simply means caused by emotional stress but rarely intracranial disease … Sleeping relieves headache .. And intake of paracetamol relieves it.
