Product Description
Based on the breakthrough understanding that virtually all headaches are forms of migraine–because migraine is not a specific type of headache, but the built-in mechanism that causes headaches of all kinds, along with neck stiffness, sinus congestion, dizziness, and other problems–Dr. Buchholz’s HEAL YOUR HEADACHE puts headache sufferers back in control of their lives with a simple, transforming program:

Step 1: Avoid the “Quick Fix.” Too often painkillers only make matters worse because of the crippling complication known as rebound.

Step 2: Reduce Your Triggers. The crux of the program: a migraine diet that eliminates the foods that push headache sufferers over the top.

Step 3: Raise Your Threshold. When diet and other lifestyle changes aren’t enough, preventive medication can help stay the course.

That’s it: in three steps turn your headache problems around.

Buchholz is clearly the man of the hour all over Johns Hopkins Hospital. I was referred there for something unrelated with migraines, diagnosed with “atypical migraines” and told that if I wanted to avoid taking really bad drugs (specifically the ones Buchholz recommends), I had better eat a better diet (but they implied I “wanted” the drugs). Strangely, no one ever asked me what my current diet is. It’s not so bad (that was simply assumed), and I doubt I could have made enough changes in it to significantly alter my condition even if I did buy the “atypical migraine” diagnosis.

But now the docs were off the hook. Rather than help me puzzle out the real problem, they could recommend this and feel they’d done something. Then if I didn’t get better, then I guess I wasn’t trying hard enough. Patient fault.

My referring specialist, and the Ph.D. technician who administered a clincal test I needed, were amused. “We hear that all the time now from people coming out of Hopkins. It’s their thing.”

I want to Johns Hopkins and came away with a prescription for an Amazon best seller. Buchholz rails against aspects of the healthcare “industry” but I think he’s got one of his own right now. After all, as I write this Amazon is sold out of the book.

Heal Your Headache: The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain

This book was recommended to me by my neurologist, even knowing that my migraines are so severe and will last anywhere from 3 to 4 days with or without pain relief medication. What? Have we gone back to the dark ages here?? And let’s look at how many pages of foods you are supposed to eliminate from your diet in order to stop the migraines. I have already been tested for all kinds of food allergies, we know that’s not why I get the migraines. And if you think for one minute I am going to follow this person’s advice and just “push through the pain,” you are absolutely nuts!! I have now changed neurologists and he almost fell out of his chair laughing at the idea of no pain relif meds! This book has the worst advice for migraines that I have ever read.

Heal Your Headache: The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain

This book is great.Great. tips, great advice, and most importantly, it does what it says on the tin.Cure you headache in 1-2-3.There is one thing i didn’t like about this book though. It reminds me more of a T.V ad or a product, but not a book.I don’t see how you could write a whole book about it, when it’s only suposed to be 1-2-3.Other than that this book has realy scientific knowledge and David Buchholz really knows his stuff. He gives as it is advice about headaches and says that they are all a form of migrane. How strange!

This book is generlay great, but with that one little problem of reminding me of a T.V ad or a product other than a book.If i were you i would buy this book, and solve all you problems.Remember, it’s a easy as 1-2-3!

Heal Your Headache: The 1-2-3 Program for Taking Charge of Your Pain

Buchholz recommends migraine sufferers stop taking the medications they use when they get a migraine. He also calls these “rescue” medications and explains how the sufferer is being “victimized” by their own medications. But, of course, he shows the reader that there is no scientific proof behind this strategy. And implying that the reader is somehow weak by needing fast relief may sell books, but it is not accurate.

The newest medications are not addictive narcotics and not many doctors think using them will cause rebounds. And Buchholz wants his readers to drop a long list of foods before they even try some of the new preventive medications. Maybe, like those who have never given birth and don’t understand the level of pain involved, Dr. B. doesn’t really know what he is talking about. This list of foods are ones his patients have told him are triggers. No statistical information makes them common triggers.

If the kind readers and sufferers want some serious relief, they will stick to the advice of their own doctors, and not buy this book.
